Responsible gambling

This page has one purpose: to help keep your money and your health above the game. It starts with the part other sites skip, then moves to practical limits you can set today.

Start with the law

In Indonesia gambling is prohibited under Articles 303 and 303 bis of the old Criminal Code, Articles 426 and 427 of the new Criminal Code (Law 1/2023), and Article 27(2) in conjunction with Article 45(3) of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (Law 1/2024). Players can face up to three years in prison or a fine of up to Rp50 million. There is no gambling regulator, no domestic licence and no national self-exclusion register, so the protections a regulator provides elsewhere depend here entirely on the operator's account settings and your own discipline. Outside Indonesia, your country's law and regulator decide what applies.

18+, age verification and restricted countries

Online casinos require players to be at least 18, and some jurisdictions set 21+. Age verification is normally done with an identity document. Operators also publish a list of restricted countries in their terms; if your country is on it, an account can be closed and winnings withheld. If children share your device, log out after playing, do not save passwords in the browser and keep a screen lock on. Underage gambling harms the people least able to cope with it.

Limits that do not depend on the casino

Warning signs

Chasing losses, hiding spending from family, borrowing to play, restlessness when not playing, neglecting work or sleep — any one of these is reason enough to stop for a while and talk to someone.

Where to talk

In Indonesia, Healing119 is the Ministry of Health's mental-health and suicide-prevention line: call 119 extension 8 or visit healing119.id, which also offers WhatsApp counselling. It is a general service, not a gambling-specific one — we found no national gambling helpline in Indonesia. Readers in other countries should look for the support service of their own country. Wherever you live, Gambling Therapy offers free online support for gambling problems in many languages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a national self-exclusion register in Indonesia?
No. Because gambling is prohibited, there is no regulator and no register. Self-exclusion is only possible through the operator.
What is a reality check?
A periodic on-screen reminder of how long you have played and your result. If the operator offers it, switch it on in account settings.
Where can I get help if I think I have a problem?
In Indonesia, Healing119 (119 ext. 8, healing119.id) offers general mental-health support. Elsewhere, contact your country's own support service.
